A search for Pseudepidalea viridis (05 May 2010 Orø - Afterwards we went fieldherping for reptiles in Odsherred)
Poor weather and bad luck.
Today I went to search for Pseudepidalea viridis together with Christian Nielsen at the island Orø, but unfortunately we found none. Later, when we got home, we went fieldherping at a location in Odsherred. The weather was really poor and it was cloudy/almost foggy most of the day, perhaps this aspect also contributed to the flaccid result of a long quest in many areas. Yet it was a nice trip which offered good experiences in nature of Orø. We also visitet the school; Orøstrand, but unfortunately there was no zookeepers at work, (therefore I will not post pictures from the vivarium this time). My old P. molurus bivittatus lives there, it has been many years since I last saw them. When I go there again, I will post some pictures of them.
The main interest in the trip was, however, to see the recently excavated pond for amphibians, especially P. viridis.
But as i mentioned before the park staff was not there, so i did not hear any specifics about the project.

There were holes everywhere, I do not know which animals could have made them? Rodents or amphibians perhaps? | © Mikkel Frederiksen 2010
But.. unfortunatly no Pseudepidalea viridis this time
Back in Odsherred
When we got home we took a trip to a location in Odsherred.
The heath had begun to flourish. This was a pleasant sight since it improves the reptiles safty significantly, now they have a better opportunity to shield themselves from birds. | © Mikkel Frederiksen 2010
